The Field
A downloadable game for macOS
The Field is a rule-based simulation constructed in Unity. Once initiated, autonomous agents are generated across a two-dimensional field and interact through a gravity-like algorithm that governs attraction, repulsion, collision, reproduction, and decay. I do not choreograph individual behavior; instead, I define the operational rules and environmental constraints under which relations emerge.
The system models kinship formation, aggregation, and eventual dissolution through variable-based interactions. “Gravity” functions not as a metaphor but as a programmable relational force—an adjustable parameter that shapes proximity, clustering, and social density. Family structures arise from repeated collisions and reproductive events, forming temporary networks that shift over time.
The work explores how structured constraints generate complex behavioral ecologies. Rather than presenting a narrative, The Field stages a condition: a dynamic environment in which life cycles unfold through algorithmic causality. Meaning is produced not through representation, but through observable systemic transformation.
